A fire door certificate is asked for more often than it is understood. What exists is certification of the doorset as a product, evidence that a door, frame, seals and hardware were tested together, and in some schemes certification of the installation, evidence that the doorset was fitted as tested. Neither certifies that the door is maintained or has been checked; those are separate records. The fire door certification record on this site holds the product and installation evidence per door, free, and the paid product keeps it with the checks.
Product certification
The doorset's certification names the door leaf, the frame, the seals and the hardware that were tested together and the scheme or test evidence behind them. A door that has been re-hung on different hinges, or had its seals replaced with another make, is no longer the certified doorset, which is why the record lists the components and not just the label.
Installation certification
Where the installer is certified under a scheme, the installation record carries the installer, the scheme and the date, and the evidence that the doorset was fitted to its instructions. The installation record on this site holds that. A certified door in an uncertified installation is the common finding on a survey.
What the certificate does not cover
Maintenance and checking. Article 17 of the Fire Safety Order, cited below, requires the door to be kept in efficient working order after installation, and Regulation 10 sets the check frequency in taller residential buildings. The certificate is the starting condition; the checks are the evidence it is still true.
Keeping it with the other three
Certification, installation, maintenance and checks: four records per door, and a request for the fire door certificate is usually a request for all four. DoorsetBook Pro keeps them per door and per building so the answer is one export.
Questions people ask about fire door certificate
Do I need a certificate for every fire door?
You need evidence that every fire door is a fire door: the certification record per door, or the survey evidence where the original certification is lost.
What if the certificate is missing?
A survey assesses the door as found; the survey cost calculator on this site prices it. The record then holds the survey as the door's evidence.
Is the record free?
Yes: the certification record prints per door without an account. Keeping it with the checks is the paid product.
