Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. The only constants DoorsetBook supplies are the published check frequencies and the storey height they apply from, cited where used. The defaults are a worked example to replace with your own.
Fire door inspection cost is decided by four things the surveyor can count before quoting: how many doors, how they are reached, whether the building is one Regulation 10 puts on a quarterly clock, and what the report has to say to whom. A building with two hundred flat entrance doors on eight floors is a different job from a school with forty doors on two. The fire door survey cost calculator on this site produces the figure from your door count and your own day rate, free and without an account; DoorsetBook Pro keeps the survey and its findings against each door.

The door count and the access
Every door is a checklist of gaps, seals, closers, hinges, glazing and signage, so the count decides the days. Access decides the rest: flat entrance doors need the resident in, common-part doors do not, and a block with no lift on the day is a slower survey.
The regulation the building is on
Regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 applies to multi-occupied residential buildings with storeys over 11 metres in height and asks the responsible person to undertake quarterly checks of all fire doors, including self-closing devices, in the common parts, and annual checks on a best endeavour basis of all flat entrance doors. A building on that clock is surveyed four times a year in the common parts, and the cost is a year's programme rather than one visit.
The report
A register the responsible person can show the fire authority, with each door's findings and the remedial action, is more work than a pass or fail list. The fire door inspection checklist on this site produces the register shape; the calculator prices the days.

Fire door inspection cost: common questions
How much does a fire door inspection cost?
It depends on the door count, the access, the regulation the building is on and the report; no market rate is quoted here. The calculator on this site produces your figure from your inputs.
Is the survey cost calculator free?
Yes, with no account and no card. Pro keeps the surveys against each door.
Does a quarterly check cost the same as a full survey?
No; the quarterly check is the common-part doors on Regulation 10's clock, and the annual flat entrance check is a separate, larger programme.
